 Mark Twain Wild West Festival

The setting for this repeat celebration of life on the wild frontier was Angels Camp’s charming historic downtown district which still looks as it did during Samuel Clemens’ time.  Mark Twain was re-telling tall tales, jugglers, magicians, strolling singers, sassy saloon girls and the Blue Canyon Gang performed street shootouts with their unique brand of humor.

Kids enjoyed some old time family entertainment in the Gold Rush Village Kids’ zone, tried Wild West games, enjoyed costume contests, historic treats, and a petting zoo.

Main Street was filled with old west style bands, yummy food and drinks, craft booths, beer and wine.

Previous activities included a Mark Twain trivia scavenger hunt in which all participants won prizes and  everything ranging from pie eating contests to a frog toss game, face painting, an old west carriage, a gold mining rock crusher, a branding station and Henry Angell’s Trading Post – a tent trading post just like the one that the Angels Camp founder started in 1849.  A fun day for everyone!

Heidrick Agricultural Museum

Woodland, CA - November 13, 2015

The Blue Canyon Gang were guest performers for the Heidrick Museum's Sneak Preview of a new Exhibit "Agriculture after the Gold Rush".  The new Exhibit features a backdrop that dramatizes the agricultural artifacts, transportation and machinery of the era during and following the Gold Rush in California.

The Heidrick Museum is grateful for the contributions of Fashion Stables (John Queirolo), the builder of the backdrop, the Blue Canyon Gang for entertainment during the preview and the museum's Tuesday Crew for their efforts with the Exhibit's development.

The building backdrop was also featured at the 2015 California State Fair County Exhibit, which won several awards.     Click here to go to the Heidrick Museum page.  Click gang photo below to go to the 2015 California State Fair page which featured the building backdrop.

Whatever the event or holiday, the Blue Canyon Gang is always a welcomed and popular participant in seasonal parades

The Stanford Mansion, Sacramento

The Stanford Mansion in Sacramento was the site for a reception honoring the foreign Consul Generals to the State of California.  The event, hosted by Charlotte Schultz, Chief of Protocol for the state, was attended by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, his wife Maria Shriver and foreign dignitaries from 110 countries.  As guests walked into the mansion's main entrance, they were greeted and welcomed by former California Governor Leland Stanford and his wife Jane.   Stanford, one of the 'Big Four', joined his railroad business partners Charles Crocker, Mark Hopkins and Collis Huntington as they mingled with guests in the garden.

Fundraising Events and Banquets

The Gang participates in fundraising events of all types.  BCG Members help support the sale of raffle tickets, mingle with and entertain guests, distribute literature, guide guests to designated areas and much more.  Ask how the Gang's 'Jail & Bail' can help your organization's fundraiser.

The California History Museum, Sacramento

The BCG added color to a western themed reception for tour operators from around the state.  The area's rich historical heritage and unique attractions were showcased to promote Sacramento as a featured travel destination.  Gang members mingled with guests at a saloon bar,  jail (complete with a shotgun-toting Sheriff), gold rush era gambling games and layouts and a gold panning demonstration.   Later, a bar room disagreement led guests outside to witness a gunfight in the streets.
